Enjoy Your Single Era: 10 Cozy Winter Activities for Women

Winter’s chill has a way of making you crave comfort and warmth.

However, if you’re single, finding yourself snuggling alone on your couch might make you sad. You might remember last winter when you had someone to hold you. Then, you start scrolling on your phone.

Were you about to check your ex’s social media? Were you even thinking about reaching out?

Stop right there!

Feeling lonely is normal, but that’s not the right thing to do to your ex.

This winter, you have better things to do than wish the breakup hadn’t happened.

This article offers 10 cozy winter activities that will help you nurture yourself and enjoy your single era.

Let’s turn those frosty nights into heartwarming moments!

1. Curl Up with a Good Book by Fireplace

Being single on a chilly winter evening isn’t the end of the world.

You might not have someone to hug you, but bundling yourself in an oversized blanket on the couch can comfort you.

This time of year is the perfect time to catch up on your reading list. Now, you have time to knock down those books. The things you learn can prepare you for new opportunities on the horizon.

So, sip your hot chocolate while reading your favorite book, and let the hours go by.

2. Decorate Your Home with Winter-Theme Decor

As the days grow shorter and the air becomes crisp, there’s something magical about transforming your home into a cozy winter wonderland.

If decorating is your thing, you can use winter-themed decor, knowing that you need to change the decoration seasonally. Or, you can choose a more neutral decor that fits any season.

Decorating is more than a visual refresh—it’s a way to bring new hope to your everyday life. It’s easier to enjoy your single era in a new environment rather than seeing reminders of your ex.

3. Bake Your Favorite Holiday Treats

Baking your favorite holiday treats can be a delightful way to embrace the season. The memory of helping Granny bake classic gingerbread cookies, cinnamon rolls, and decadent chocolate yule logs can make you happy this winter.

What if you’re like me, a child who ended up making a mess in Granny’s kitchen then she told you to leave so that she can bake properly? In that case, buy your favorite cookies online and enjoy them while chuckling at the memory.

Either way, you’ll have beautiful memories even if your partner chooses to leave.

4. Have a DIY Spa Day at Home

It’s freezing cold outside, but inside, you can transform your living space into a serene retreat. Light scented candles, play soft calming music, and bundle yourself in a silky bathrobe.

You can do whatever you like to spoil yourself. Start with a luxurious bubble bath with warm water and add your favorite bath salts or essential oils.

Take a deep breath, fill your lungs with air, and imagine releasing all your worries with each breath. You’re single and happy. Nobody loves you more than you do.

Next, it’s time for skincare. You can use your favorite face mask or go a homemade route, such as a blend of honey and yogurt to rejuvenate your skin.

Don’t forget about your hands and feet. Give them a moisturizing scrub and a gentle massage. Be grateful that your limbs do a lot for you. They help you get through your day every day.

You might be in your single era now, but you still have a lot of things to be grateful for.

5. Watch Classic Holiday Movies

Watching movies is a go-to activity to boost your mood. The story will make you forget your loneliness.

Choose a movie that will bring beautiful memories of your childhood. Mine are Home Alone and Home Alone 2: Lost in New York. Both are hilarious. When I was a child, I imagined having an adventurous holiday like Kevin McCallister.

You’ll be surprised at how your mind will be refreshed after watching a movie.

You can invite over a friend or family member to enjoy the movie night. Or maybe you’re just like me: a homebody who enjoys her own company.

So, make some popcorn, dim the lights, and let your beloved film fill your home with holiday spirit.

6. Take a Walk and Enjoy the Snow

Walking outside is a good way to reset your mood and calm your mind. Bundle up in your warmest coat, slip on your boots, and step outside to enjoy the winter morning.

Let’s pretend you’re in Narnia. You’re a hero that about to make a big change in your life. Playing a find mindset game like this can lighten your soul. Just like when you’re a child, playing with your mom’s curtain and thinking that you’re a Superman.

Make a snowball and throw it at a tree for fun. Smile, inhale the fresh air, and be thankful that you can enjoy this cold air.

You can make walking a daily habit regardless of the season. It’s a versatile activity that you can enjoy alone, with a friend, or with your future partner.

7. Write in a Journal to Evaluate Your Year

This is especially pertinent to people in North America, for whom winter comes at the end of the year. While you enjoy the snow, it’s time to evaluate your year.

While you enjoy a warm mug of tea, answer these questions in your journal:

  • What were the highlights of my year?
  • What new experiences did I have this year?
  • What goals did I set but not achieve, and why?
  • What advice would I give my past self at the beginning of the year?
  • What am I looking forward to in the coming year?

These questions are just a guide. Usually, after answering one or two questions, your mind will flow. Pour everything into your journal to empty your mind.

Being single is the best time to redirect your life. Learn your lesson, set new goals, and take a step toward your dream life.

In the future, when you finally start dating again, make sure he’s aligned with your plan. If he isn’t, find someone new. You can make some tweaks to adapt to your new partner, but never forget your dream just because someone says he loves you.

8. Practice Yoga or Meditation with Aromatic Candlelight

Anything done by candlelight becomes more romantic. A candlelight dinner makes you feel special, and a bubble bath with twilight candles calms your nerves. Similarly, practicing yoga or meditation by candlelight creates a serene atmosphere.

If that’s not your thing, you can enjoy a hot beverage, sit, and be mindful of your breath. Quietness will give you time to think about your life, what’s been going on, and what you can expect to happen next.

Today might be a hard day for you.

You probably still cry before you fall asleep remembering your ex.

Or maybe you’ve been single for months that you’re single and things have started to fall into place.

And that’s okay. Everyone has their own timeline.

This is easier said than done. For experience, I still feel behind from time to time because I’m 37 still single, and rebuilding my career from the ground up.

So if you feel all this meditation is a bit BS, I feel you. I only ask you to trust the process and trust yourself.

Believe that everything will work out for you in the end.

If you feel the urge to write, turn on the lights. Don’t make the same mistake I did: writing by candlelight. My eyes ended up paying the price—I need new glasses.

9. Make a Vision Board for the Upcoming Year

There’s something magical about approaching the new year. It’s the best time to start something new and make plans for your life. Research says that 80% of New Year’s resolutions are forgotten by February, but that doesn’t have to be your story.

A vision board will help you stay on track with your goals.

In the old days, creating a vision board was a hassle. You had to spread out magazines and newspapers to find pictures that represented your dreams. Today, though, all you need is Google.

Make a list of what you want to do in the next 1-3 years, find corresponding pictures on Google, and print them.

Also, you can add inspiring quotes that resonate with your feelings right now. Put all the images on cardboard, or you can make a picture compilation in Canva.

Put your vision board in a place where you’ll see it every day. I put it next to my laptop on my desk. You can also set your vision board as your phone wallpaper.

It will keep your dreams at the forefront of your mind. Every time you feel lost, you know where you heading. Your vision board also helps you decide what actions to take.

Over the year, you’ll be amazed at how many things on your board start to manifest in your life. Or, at the very least, you’ll discover how far you’ve come and how your perspective on life has shifted.

10. Plan a Winter Weekend Getaway to a Cabin or Airbnb

Last but not least, you can enjoy a weekend getaway at a charming cabin or quaint Airbnb, either alone (make sure it’s safe) or with friends or family.

A new environment will refresh your mind. You can do some of the activities on this list, such as reading books, meditating, baking cakes, and journaling, when you’re in the cabin.

The next morning, you can take a walk to explore your surroundings and enjoy the view of fresh snow blanketing the forest. If you have kids, you can make a snowman and have a good laugh with a snowball fight.

Forget your screen for some time, reconnect with yourself and the people you love. When you get back to real life, you’ll be recharged and ready to take on the world.

Rules for Pampering Yourself.

Pampering yourself is an essential part of your healing journey. However, you don’t want to do something stupid in the name of self-love.

Here are some rules to ensure your self-care sessions are both enjoyable and practical.

  • Financially Reasonable

Pampering shouldn’t break the bank.

Treating yourself like a princess isn’t the same as being financially irresponsible.

If you want to splurge on an expensive spa day, make sure you spend only the money you have. Don’t use a credit card that you won’t be able to pay off when the bill comes.

When you’re on a budget, be creative about finding activities that bring happiness without costing a fortune.

If a manicure is your thing but is out of your budget, you can do your nails at home. I love my salon time, so I compensate for it by not buying clothes too often.

  • Safety First

Safety must be your top priority.

The fact that you feel lonely doesn’t mean you should go hard on partying and sleep with a random guy whose name you won’t remember.

Also, when you travel, update your friends and family so they know where you are. If you’re traveling alone, don’t mention this fact to strangers.

  • Time Management

As an adult, you have responsibilities. Your bills, your debts, and your deadlines still need your attention.

That’s why you must plan your pampering sessions carefully. Carve out time in your schedule that doesn’t conflict with your important commitments.

For instance, Sunday might become your designated self-care time to unwind and reset before the week begins. If you’re going on vacation, take advantage of a long weekend alongside your PTO days.

Nurture Yourself This Winter to Thrive in Your Single Era

Winter is often seen as a time when everything slows down. The workload is decreasing and you have more time to spend with your family and friends.

It’s also a good time to reflect and plan to thrive in your single era. The list in this article offers plenty of ideas on how to nurture yourself.

When the new year comes, you’ll be ready to hit the ground running.

Good luck!
